Tasting. Many will associate it with wine. How about beer? For a beer lover like myself, I was able to find my favorites just by trying out different brews. If you’re looking to discover your favorite type of beer, a trip to Gordon Biersch in Palo Alto, CA, just may be worth your time. Here, you are able to try a beer sampler, a taste of serveral brews of Gordon Biersch’s beer. The sampler includes the following:

  • Hefeweizen
  • Pilsner
  • Märzen
  • Schwarzbier
  • Blonde Bock
  • And a Seasonal Beer
  • With the beer sampler, you get a small serving of each brew. They include a placemat provides the history and taste of each brew. Reading about beer is fun, but drinking and tasting it is much better. I found that the Blonde Bock was my favorite. Beer tasting reminded me a lot of wine tasting. You learn a little bit about each beer and you can discover your favorite.

With all of the alcohol you’ll be consuming, I’d advise ordering some food to go along with your drinks. Beer can get a little heavy, so we ordered appetizers instead of entrées. The chicken wings were the perfect combination to go with the beer. They were glazed with a sweet chili sauce and topped off with sesame seeds. Assortments of other dishes are available from pizza, steaks, and seafood. All of which you can enjoy in a relaxed, laid back atmosphere. Cheers!

    It’s a spot for dates because…
Beer tasting at Gordon Biersch can be a new experience for some.

    1. GB does a pretty good fried calamari, although I think Tied House and Buca di Beppo do better jobs with that.

    2. oh hell yes

    3. how interesting. I like some types of beer more than wine… tastes lighter and more refreshing :)
